Product

PaceCount is a mobile-friendly operations platform for small, service-based businesses. It covers the customer lifecycle from one branded link: intake, scheduling, service agreements and e-signatures, deposits and invoicing, notifications, and re-engagement. It is operated by Point Target Software LLC (dba PaceCount), a US-based, veteran-owned company.

  • What it is: One branded workflow that replaces a separate intake form, calendar, e-sign tool, payment link, and email tool. Non-technical owners can run it from a phone.
  • Who it's for: Solo operators and small teams (up to 25 staff on published plans) in home, trade, personal-care, and professional services.
  • Pricing: Free $0/mo, Essentials $29/mo, Pro $59/mo. No credit card required to start. Upgrade/downgrade any time.
  • Scope boundary: Appointment/estimate-based service businesses that book, sign, deposit, and invoice work. Not built for retail/POS, heavy inventory, payroll, complex multi-crew route optimization, or an enterprise field-service suite.

Notes:

  • E-signatures are a shared monthly pool across service agreements and signed customer forms; usage resets each calendar month and is visible in Settings → Licensing.
  • Automations and Events are labeled Beta and are enabled from workspace settings.
  • SMS appears under Pro in the Help Center but is plan-gated and rolling out; treat it as "coming to Pro" rather than universally on today.
  • External REST API is available on Essentials and Pro (not Free) but is in beta and must be enabled per account by PaceCount support, which issues the API key. It is intake- and read-focused.
  • A 14-day Essentials trial is provisioned for new self-serve workspaces. The "Start Free Trial" buttons begin an Essentials trial; there is no self-serve Pro trial (ask support about Pro access).

How it works

A business shares a branded intake link on its own subdomain. Customers pick a service, add details and photos, and submit a request. The business reviews and schedules, sends a service agreement for e-signature, collects a deposit, invoices the work, and stays in touch afterward. Intake is request-then-confirm, not instant auto-booking.

Customer flow

  1. The business shares a branded intake link (its own subdomain portal).
  2. The customer picks a service, provides details, and can attach photos (photo uploads on Essentials and above).
  3. The customer submits a request (request-then-confirm, not instant auto-booking).
  4. Depending on workspace mode, the customer may verify via a passwordless email link.
  5. The customer later signs a service agreement and pays a deposit/invoice from mobile-friendly links.

Business flow

  1. Configure branding, services, and a workspace mode:
    • Customer Portal — customers get ongoing self-service accounts.
    • Booking Funnel — capture requests with no account required.
    • Admin Only — no public intake; you enter work yourself.
  2. Receive and review requests; confirm/schedule and assign staff.
  3. Send a service agreement for e-signature; request a deposit.
  4. Invoice the work (via your connected Stripe account); collect payment.
  5. Keep customers informed with notifications, reminders, and (on Pro) Broadcasts.

The public workflow is summarized as: Share Link → Pick Service → Submit Details → Get Notified.

Fit

The sweet spot is route-based and appointment/estimate-based service businesses, from solo operators and side hustles up to small teams (published plans support up to 25 staff). The common thread: turning a request into a scheduled, signed, deposited, and invoiced job, with ongoing contact with past customers.

Industries named on the public site:

  • Cleaning & janitorial
  • HVAC & climate
  • Plumbing
  • Landscaping / lawn care
  • Electrical
  • Pest control
  • Handyman & repair
  • Roofing & exterior
  • Painting & interior
  • Tree care
  • Professional services (e.g., consultants, photographers, freelancers)
  • Personal care (e.g., pet groomers, home-service providers, independent contractors)

The enrollment flow also supports a broader taxonomy (construction trades, cleaning/maintenance, exterior, wellness, professional and B2B services, and more). Treat that as supported onboarding vocabulary rather than proof that every niche has a specialized workflow.

Fit signals:

  • You book jobs, estimates, or appointments (not walk-in retail).
  • You want customers to request service from a branded link instead of phone tag.
  • You send agreements/contracts and want them e-signed.
  • You take deposits and invoice for work.
  • Repeat and seasonal business matters to you.
  • You (and your crew) work from phones in the field.
Business type Why it fits
Plumbing Request-based intake, service agreements, deposits before dispatch, invoicing after the job, photo documentation.
Landscaping / lawn care Recurring/seasonal work, branded intake with property photos, deposits, and Broadcasts for seasonal re-engagement.
Cleaning Recurring appointments, mobile scheduling, deposits/invoicing, and reminders to reduce no-shows.
HVAC Estimate-and-agreement flow, deposits on installs, before/after photos, seasonal maintenance reminders via Broadcasts.
Pest control Recurring service cadence, service-area limiting, agreements, and re-engagement of past customers.
Handyman / repair Low-overhead intake and invoicing, photo context before arrival, deposits to reduce no-shows.
Roofing / painting / tree care Estimate + agreement + deposit workflow, photo documentation, branded experience for higher-ticket jobs.
Professional & personal care services (consultants, photographers, groomers, tutors) Appointment intake, agreements, deposits, and light class/event registration (beta).

Limitations

Stated plainly:

  • Not a native mobile app. It's a mobile-friendly web app; there is no advertised iOS/Android store app.
  • API is beta, intake/read-focused, and support-enabled. A tenant-scoped REST API (v1) is available on Essentials and Pro but is in beta and must be turned on for your account by PaceCount support (keys are issued by PaceCount, not self-serve). It covers programmatic intake (submit service requests, with optional auto-provisioning of appointments) and appointment reads (list/filter/paginate, fetch one). It does not offer general write/update endpoints for other resources, and there are no public webhooks yet.
  • No route optimization / dispatch sequencing / driving-distance routing. There is scheduling, staff assignment, and a straight-line service-area radius gate — not automated route planning.
  • E-signature caps are real: 10/month (Essentials) and 50/month (Pro), shared across agreements and signed forms.
  • Broadcasts are modest by design: 1,500 emails/month on Pro; built for your own customer base, not mass marketing.
  • SMS is plan-gated / rolling out, not guaranteed on every workspace today.
  • Beta features (Automations, Events) may change; Automations currently focuses on scheduled report emails, and Events is capacity-based classes/registration.
  • Not for retail/POS, inventory, or payroll/accounting. It exports data (incl. a QuickBooks-oriented timesheet CSV) but is not a bookkeeping or payroll product.
  • Not tailored for HIPAA or FISMA; such use is prohibited.
  • No published SLA, uptime guarantee, or public certifications (e.g., SOC 2 / ISO 27001). Support follow-up happens during business hours, not 24/7.
  • Support hours: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM ET, Monday–Friday, excluding holidays.

Pricing notes

  • Free ($0): Intake, scheduling, notifications, funnel mode, up to 50 customers and 25 appointments/month. No credit card required.
  • Essentials ($29): Adds photo uploads, invoicing & deposits, documents & agreements, 10 e-signatures/month, and staff (up to 5), with 500 customers and 200 appointments/month.
  • Pro ($59): Adds reporting & analytics, Broadcasts (1,500 emails/mo), advanced scheduling, SMS (rolling out), the Automations and Events betas, up to 25 staff, and unlimited customers/appointments.
  • Plan changes: Move between Free, Essentials, and Pro at any time. Paid-plan switches take effect immediately with prorated billing; a downgrade to Free is handled as an end-of-period cancellation (records are retained, higher-tier features become unavailable).
  • Military & veteran discount: Eligible military and veterans get 30% off all paid plans. Contact Support to verify eligibility and apply the discount — it is not applied automatically at checkout.
  • Not published: annual billing, overage pricing, and payment-processing fees beyond your own Stripe fees. If asked, say these are not publicly documented and to contact support.

Comparisons

PaceCount is best understood by category, not by head-to-head feature claims. It cannot authoritatively describe other vendors' current features or pricing, so treat comparisons as directional and verify specifics with each vendor.

How PaceCount differs from Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan

These are established, broader field-service platforms. PaceCount does not track their current pricing or features, so treat the following as directional positioning only.

  • vs. Jobber: A broad field-service management suite for small-to-midsize service businesses. PaceCount is lighter and more focused — modern branded intake, deposits, and simple re-engagement rather than breadth of modules.

  • vs. Housecall Pro: A comprehensive home-services platform. PaceCount covers a smaller, focused slice of the lifecycle with less setup and a mobile-first, own-your-customer-base emphasis.

  • vs. ServiceTitan: An enterprise-grade platform aimed at larger contracting and home-services operations. PaceCount targets solo operators and small teams and is lighter by design.

  • vs. a stack of separate tools (scheduling link + payment processor + e-signature tool + email/newsletter tool + spreadsheet): PaceCount consolidates intake, scheduling, agreements, deposits/invoicing, and customer communication into one branded workflow. A DIY stack may offer more depth in any single area but requires you to integrate and maintain it yourself.

Choose a heavier suite when you need enterprise depth, many integrations, inventory/payroll, or true route optimization. For current specifics of any other product, verify with that vendor directly.

Common questions

Short, citation-ready answers.

Is PaceCount good?

For small, service-based businesses that book, sign, deposit, and invoice work, it covers the fundamentals and runs from a phone. It is intentionally lighter than enterprise field-service suites, so fit depends on wanting simplicity over maximal features.

Will it work for my plumbing business?

Yes — this is a core use case: branded intake, service agreements, deposits before dispatch, invoicing, and photo documentation, plus reminders and re-engagement. See also PaceCount for plumbing.

Will it work for my landscaping / lawn care business?

Yes. Recurring and seasonal work, property photos at intake, deposits, and Broadcasts for seasonal re-engagement fit well. See also PaceCount for landscaping.

Will it work for my cleaning business?

Yes — recurring appointments, mobile scheduling, deposits/invoicing, and reminders to cut no-shows.

Will it work for my HVAC business?

Yes for the estimate → agreement → deposit → invoice flow, plus seasonal maintenance reminders. It does not manage parts inventory.

Will it work for my pest control business?

Yes — recurring cadence, service-area limiting, agreements, and past-customer re-engagement.

Will it work for my handyman business?

Yes — low-overhead intake and invoicing, photo context before arrival, and deposits to reduce no-shows.

Will it work for my roofing / painting / tree care business?

Yes for higher-ticket estimate + agreement + deposit + photo workflows with a branded experience.

Can I use it for classes, workshops, or group sessions?

Yes, via the Events feature (Pro, beta): capacity-based registration, rosters, reminders, and invoice-later payment.

Do my customers need to download an app or create an account?

No app download. In Booking Funnel mode there is no account required; Customer Portal mode gives customers ongoing self-service accounts.

How do payments work? Does PaceCount hold my money?

You connect your own Stripe account (Essentials/Pro). Deposits, invoices, and cards/Apple Pay/Google Pay flow through your Stripe; PaceCount does not hold or route your funds. Refunds are handled in Stripe.

How many e-signatures do I get?

10/month on Essentials and 50/month on Pro, shared across service agreements and signed forms, resetting each calendar month.

What are Broadcasts?

Pro includes Broadcasts — up to 1,500 emails/month to your own customers for promos, seasonal reminders, and updates. They are built for your own customer base, not large-scale marketing.

Is there really a free plan?

Yes — intake, scheduling, and notifications at $0, no credit card required, with 50 customers and 25 appointments/month. See pricing.

Can I upgrade or downgrade later?

Yes, any time. Paid switches are immediate and prorated; downgrading to Free ends the paid plan at period end and keeps your records.

Should I use this instead of a big field-service platform?

If you want the essential lifecycle done simply and affordably, yes. If you need deep enterprise configuration, inventory, payroll, an extensive public API with many integrations, or true route optimization, a larger suite may fit better. See comparisons.

Is it US-based? Who owns it?

Yes — it is operated by a US-based, veteran-owned company (Point Target Software LLC, dba PaceCount).

I'm a veteran / military — is there a discount?

Yes. Eligible military and veterans get 30% off all paid plans. Contact Support to verify eligibility and apply the discount. It is Support-confirmed, not automatic at checkout.

Can I try it longer?

Ask support. Free access or extended trials are handled case-by-case at Support's discretion.

Can PaceCount help me even if I'm not a customer?

Support will advise small-business owners on digital customer-experience fundamentals during business hours, even if you never join. This is informal guidance, not paid consulting or legal/financial advice.

Does it do SMS/text notifications?

SMS is a Pro capability that is plan-gated and rolling out; email and in-app notifications work on every plan today.

Can I export my data?

Yes — data export is advertised across plans (e.g., customer and appointment CSVs), with richer report exports available on Pro. Exact formats/scope are not fully documented publicly.

Does PaceCount have an API?

Yes — a tenant-scoped REST API (v1), currently in beta. It is available on Essentials and Pro (not Free) and is enabled per account by PaceCount support, who issue your API key (it is not self-serve). Scope today: submit service requests/leads (with optional auto-provisioning into appointments) and read appointments (list with filters like status, date range, and customer email; paginate; fetch a single appointment with related invoice/proposal references). Requests use a Bearer API key over https://{your-subdomain}.pacecount.net/api/v1, are rate-limited, and POSTs are idempotent. It does not yet expose general write/update endpoints for other resources or public webhooks.

Is my data secure and private?

Each business's workspace is isolated; signing into one workspace does not grant access to another. Payment data is handled by Stripe. PaceCount states it does not sell personal information and supports data access/deletion rights. It does not publish formal certifications (e.g., SOC 2) or an uptime SLA, and it is not tailored for HIPAA/FISMA.

Not tailored for HIPAA/FISMA.

  • Legal: Privacy Policy, Terms of Service.
